Research shows that the risk for substance misuse and other adverse behaviors increases as the number of risk factors increases, and that protective factors may reduce the risk of youth engaging in substance use that can lead to substance misuse.
Children are more likely to thrive when their families have the support they need and advances in brain science shows that adolescent brains are at a key stage of development, which can be nurtured when a young person’s strengths are supported.
